Four paths of sensorial contemplation will take you through the different visual and symbolic layers that compose this virtually analogous forest, to explore its multiple sound, visual, biological, historical, cultural and conceptual dimensions, and reflect on our role as humans upon entering these ecosystems; not as external bodies but as integral components of the rich interrelations coexisting in these sacred natural spaces.

How do future generations perceive the current state of our surroundings? What can their visual culture and imagery foretell of future acts of transformation? These multiple formats, sounds, colors, words and emotions are the result of an open-call for young artists under the age of 30 during July 2021, under the premise “to question and reflect on the visual representation of a forest”. The participants were selected and curated by renown Chilean artists and cultural managers working in the fields of digital art, more-than-human explorations, and visual culture: Nicole L’Huillier, Cristóbal Cea and Valentina Montero.

An audiogenerative forest, a seed of a procedural map inhabitable in a cyber-space of post-industrial territories; in the middle of a no-man's-land, yet privatized for all.

A place of identical artificial bodies that are life and product at the same time, an almost monochrome space of mathematical composition. A forest in which only a child could deposit their memories.

An intertwining of cosmic and ecological knowledge of indigenous worlds that embody an environmental ethic and a syntropic management of biodiversity. Its limitless borders that encompass the planet and the Pleiades, are reduced to tiny territories by the force of law of Western geopolitics.

What would a journey through time be like inside a thousand-year-old araucaria? As a child I imagined that trees had feelings, because they taught me to greet a tree, the litre.

The forest is an organic process that allows the closing of a cycle and the opening of another, in contrast our connection lowered its inorganic and linear origin, it becomes garbage, waste, corpses, retentions, a wave of accumulation with clogged lungs. The inorganic becomes rotten.

Under my condition of Shampurria I live with the forest from a cosmogonic dialogue; interacting, offering, and understanding that my life does not exist without the ngen (natural energies) that regulate the territory under its own intelligence.

To know the history of our territory and origin through the imperishable and unchangeable of the trees; observe a landscape and think that in a previous period, someone probably saw what I did, yet in that same period humans and nature could coexist in complete harmony.

I think of the forest as a monster that wants to protect itself. The climate trembles, even more when cutting the trees. Extractivist human, the lung of the womb wants to breathe. What if we stop trying to dominate it? How do we relate technology to nature?
Our place is within this network, we are matter and we must join the action for a reaction that perpetuates life.

For a city person like me, imbued in the fast-paced hustle and bustle of concrete and surrounded by luminous screens, the forest seems to be another dimension, a parallel world where everything goes at its own pace, and where there are thousands of wonderful details to capture. However, there is always the threat of one world consuming the other.

An avatar of the artist herself, who creates this feminine being to project her limited sense of orientation within a forest.
As ecological ghosts we fold and unfold fragments of bodies –whose limits are not skin demarcations but living memory– in a breath of the forest, in a movement that transforms our humanity into perennial spectral communities.
